Kenseth Wins Fontana
Busch-whacker Matt Kenseth survived a pit road mishap to take the checkers at the 1-800-Pit Shop.com 300.
The win marked the third time in six attempts that Kenseth has won at the two-mile oval.
Starting ninetieth, Kenseth quickly demonstrated that he had the car to beat, however, it was during first round pit stops that
NASCAR officials called the team back on to pit road for a loose lug nut, regulating Kenseth Ford to the rear of the field.
Without missing a step, it took sixty-five laps for Kenseth to tear through the field of competitors to take the point and never
look back.
“We had a great handling car today. Everything came together”, noted Kenseth. Finishing behind Kenseth were Michael Waltrip, pole sitter Kevin Harvick, Kasey Kahne, and Todd Bodine.
The race marked the eighth time in nine races that a Winston Cup regular has claimed victory in the series.
Todd Bodine retains the series points lead with a margin of ninety-nine points over Ron Hornaday.
