Sauter and AC Delco Back On Track

Daytona Beach, Florida

Johnny Sauter has struggled this season. During his first eighteen races the rookie has managed to score only one top five and two top ten finishes. Crashes at Talladega, and California left the young driver injured and sidelined for the spring Charlotte race.

Saturday at Daytona International Speedway the team appears to be back on track, as Sauter and company ran in the top ten all night and not only ran well, but ran smart. "It's about time we stayed out of trouble at one of these restrictor plate races. The first time I've finished one. At Talladega I ran only 15 laps and here at Daytona I got wrecked a little bit. All in all, a good night for us. It was good for the team. We needed this run bad for the points (and) to boost the morale of the guys on the team and especially for AC Delco." Noted Sauter.

The driver continued discussing the importance of a top ten finish. "It's huge. We knew we had an awesome racecar and anything short of winning was going to be almost disappointing. A top-10 after some of the runs that we've been through is huge. It's priceless. The last couple of races I have had a lot of confidence we either got caught out of pit sequence or whatever or didn't finish in the top-10 but we've run in the top-10 in the last three or four races. It's a sign of good things to come. There is definitely light at the end of the tunnel."

Crew chief Rick Viers and the entire AC Delco team were extremely proud of their performance and show a strong desire to continue the momentum heading into Chicago.
