Stats at The Glen

Welcome to The Glen

After 2nd practice & Happy Hour, Flash (Jeff) Gordon is on the pole and is atop our leader board as well.  He's folllowed by Tony Stewart... and look at Mark Martin!  Mark had a great qualifying run, and has been fast in all three practice sessions.  If lady luck takes a ride in the Viagra car, maybe Mark will break his long losing slump and pull in a win.  He's a capable road racer and he's never finished outside of the top 15 at The Glen.

Dale Jr. has practiced very fast and has qualified well... but he hasn't had much luck on the road courses as a whole.  This will be his 4th start at The Glen.

The road course specialists have wondered a bit farther up the speed charts.  Boris Said & Ron Fellows are leading the way... practicing inside the top ten.  The rest of the guys... Pruett, Miller, Jones, & Menard have kinda hung in there at mid-pack.  Keep in mind, we are pulling in their low position in the points standings for our calculations.

If there's going to be a weekend that Gordon or Jr. could make a huge dent in Kennseth's points lead... it'll be this week.  Take a look at Matt's stats.  Not to good looking on the road courses.  Granted, he's on one heck of a roll and he has shown a few bright and shiny moments on the road courses, but simply doesn't have the results to back them up.

Some of the usuals that run a bit better on road courses... that ain't doing so well this time around at The Glen are:  Michael Waltrip...Qualified 34th and his practice average is at 20th.  Jimmy Spencer was just ranting and raving about how nice it was to have a team that backs up their driver by not looking for a hired gun to replace the regular driver on road courses... well... he needs to be thankful this week.  He had to take a provisional to get into the show.

Ones to keep an eye on...  Bobby Labonte... solid practice speeds, Ryan Newman... second last year here... never out of the top 10 on a road course.  Scott Pruett... if he's running at the end, chances are he'll be inside the top 10.  Jeff Burton... very good finishes at The Glen.

Those that went home... CHECK YOUR ROSTER...

Jeff Green, Mike Skinner, Jack Sprague, Derrike Cope, & Ken Schrader.  Dump 'em if you got 'em !

Looks like we'll have some weather to deal with... 60% chance of rain & storms during the day on Sunday.  Sure wish they had rain tires !!
