The Sharpie 500

If you put 43 Matchbox cars in your toilet... along with one sewing needle, then flush... what you'd have is the equivalent of one lap at...

The Sharpie 500 !!

Welcome to Bristol.  Can you say "35,000 horse power in a blender?"

This is the track where the guy that starts last knows that the instant the green flag drops... he's only 6 seconds from going a lap down.  This is competition at it's best.

That's what we're dealing with this week and it's Bobby Labonte at the top of our Attractiveness Scoring list.  Bobby hasn't finished outside the top 10 at Bristol since March of 2001.  Pretty astounding consistency for such a tuff little track.

Dale Jr. clicks in second on our list with some great consistency at the short tracks this year... and he's second in points... that's gotta count for something.

Other drivers that could lite a fuse in their year might be:

Rusty Wallace, always a factor at Bristol.

Greg Biffle...finished 5th here in the spring and is beginning to show moments of brilliance on a more frequent basis.

Kurt Busch (if he can breathe with his 'Spencer Modified' nose).  Kurt won here in the spring of '02, again in the Spring of this year, and he also pulled off a win at Martinsville at the end of last year.  Kurt's becoming quite the short track driver.

Rest assured, when the checkered flag drops, there will have been some tempers flared, some fenders flared, and a whole lot of fireworks shot off in one form or another.

We'll have more stats after practice and qualifying on Friday.

Check out the rest of the stats at...
