The Jordan Jinx

You've definitely heard of it. It might've bit you once or twice. Here's the gist of it: whenever Jordan McAbee bets on a driver to win a race, that driver becomes jinxed. The good news? You get warned of it happening each time, and it doesn't happen every single race. Below is the history of the #JordanJinx in 2021.

Race #23 - Watkins Glen

The #JordanJinx is on Kyle Larson for Watkins Glen on Sunday. Stay tuned for the results.

Race #22 - New Hampshire

It didn’t take long for the #JordanJinx to strike at New Hampshire, as Denny Hamlin was involved in the early incident when the track was wet. Hamlin eventually rebounded for a 10th-place finish, but still well below his normal Loudon performance. #JordanJinx

Race #21 - Atlanta 2

The #JordanJinx was on Alex Bowman for the second Atlanta race, and surprisingly, nothing crazy happened. Bowman was actually the fastest Hendrick Motorsports car all day and ended up finishing 4th when it was all said and done, finishing inside the top 4 in both Stages as well.

Race #20 - Road America

Ouch. That hurt. Early bettors were able to nab Austin Cindric at 50-to-1 odds for Road America, which was a crazy good value considering he closed at 12-to-1 at some books. As Cindric was battling for the lead early, tough, his car broke and he ended up finishing 38th. Major #JordanJinx.

Race #19 - Pocono Sunday

It looked like the #JordanJinx was back and worse than ever when Kyle Busch had transmission issues in the second Pocono race after having the strongest car to start the day. However, the race ended on a long green flag run and it worked in the #18 team’s favor, as Rowdy was able to save enough gas and get the win at +800 odds.

Race #18 - Pocono Saturday

The bet was on Denny Hamlin for the first Pocono race of the doubleheader, but the #JordanJinx wasn’t enough to derail a strong finish out of the current Cup Series points leader. Hamlin had the 5th-best driver rating all day and ended up finishing 4th after Kyle Larson blew a tire in the final turn.

Race #17 - Nashville

The #JordanJinx was on Martin Truex, Jr. for the Nashville race, and boy did it rear its ugly ahead again. In qualifying, MTJ laid down an awful lap and had to start from 35th, and then went through the race on a struggle bus, picking up a couple of penalties and a flat tire along the way. Truex finished 22nd when it was all said and done. #JordanJinx

All Star Race

It’s baaack… Once again, the #JordanJinx was on Kyle Busch for the All Star Race at Charlotte. Also, Jordan had a bet on William Byron as well. Kyle Busch was strong early but then the jinx took over and he finished 9th out of 21 cars. Additionally, William Byron had the best green flag speed all race but ended up finishing 7th after a bad late restart. #JordanJinx

Race #16 - Sonoma

The #JordanJinx was on Kyle Busch for Sonoma, but Rowdy was able to overcome its powers and end up with a top 5 finish and the 4th-best driver rating in the race. That’s three races in a row that the #JordanJinx hasn’t been a bad thing…

Race #13 - Dover

Are we seeing a turn in the #JordanJinx? For the first Dover race of the season, the bet was on Alex Bowman at 18/1 odds. After a blazing fast pit stop, Bowman ended up leading 98 laps and winning at Dover. This makes two weeks in a row where the #JordanJinx wasn’t a bad thing…

Race #12 - Darlington

The #JordanJinx wasn’t enough to stop the hot streak of William Byron and the #24 Hendrick Motorsports team. Although he didn’t lead any laps in this race, Byron was a top 5 contender all day long and ended up finishing 4th at Darlington.

Race #11 - Kansas

Starting back in 29th at a track where he’s won at three times, many Fantasy NASCAR players were expecting a big fantasy points day out of Joey Logano at Kansas. The #22 Ford was sluggish all day, coming home 17th when it was all said and done. #JordanJinx

Race #10 - Talladega

One of the most popular fantasy picks at Talladega is always Ricky Stenhouse, Jr., but just because someone is popular doesn’t mean they can escape the jinx. Stenhouse was involved in an early wreck and then spun into the wall coming to pit road later in the race, finishing 33rd when it was over. #JordanJinx

Race #9 - Richmond

The wrong car got the #JordanJinx in this race. Jordan’s early bet was on Kyle Larson–who had an awful day–but the official #JordanJinx was given to Martin Truex, Jr. However, Truex is just too good at Richmond, and even the #JordanJinx couldn’t stop him from leading 107 laps and finishing 5th.

Race #8 - Martinsville

Surely Joey Logano would be immune from the Jordan Jinx starting from the pole at Martinsville, a track where Penske has been super fast at lately. Nope. On the fourth lap of the race, Logano was passed by Denny Hamlin for lead and continued to slip back from there. Eventually Logano rebounded to finish 6th but had just 6 laps led and 3 fastest laps–a very disappointing day for DFS owners. #JordanJinx

Race #6 - Atlanta

Nobody can stop Kevin Harvick at Atlanta, right? Wrong. The Jordan Jinx can. Many people were expecting another very strong, dominating effort from Harvick at Atlanta, but after a strong opening in the race, the bad luck hit. Harvick had to pit for a flat tire early in the race and then remarked how this car was the worst he’s had at Atlanta. Harvick finished 10th in this race with 0 laps led and just 12 fastest laps. #JordanJinx

Race #5 - Phoenix

Kyle Larson received the Jordan Jinx at Phoenix. It all started when he failed pre-race inspection and, instead of starting 2nd on Sunday, had to start from the rear. Larson then quickly made his way through the field on Sunday–multiple times. He received two speeding penalties during the race, killing his chances of winning. Larson finished 7th despite having one of the fastest cars all day long. #JordanJinx

Race #4 - Las Vegas

Chase Elliott and Alex Bowman were both under the Jordan Jinx at Las Vegas. To start the race, Elliott had one of the best cars and nearly won the first Stage, but his pit crew ended up ruining his car. Alex Bowman ran top 5 for most of the day but then had to pit late, ruining his day. Chase finished 13th, Bowman finished 27th. #JordanJinx

Race #3 - Homestead

It was Kyle Larson and Tyler Reddick who nabbed the Jordan Jinx special at Homestead. Early week odds had Larson at 14-to-1 and Reddick at 28-to-1 to win at Homestead. When it was all said and done? Reddick finished 2nd and Larson finished 4th. Not an awful day by any means, and more PJ Walsh-esque, but still… #JordanJinx

Race #1 - Daytona 500

Jordan went all in on Chris Buescher in the Fantasy NASCAR world at Daytona, and boy was that a mistake. He talked up Buescher pretty much any chance he got, and the #17 Ford was caught up in the first wreck of the day, and one of the first cars out of the race. Buescher finished 31st that day. #JordanJinx
