Unfortunately, all good things must eventually come to an end.

When it was first announced that FOX Fantasy Auto would not be returning for the 2018 season, it probably wasn’t very surprising news–the writing was on the wall for the second half of the season. And while the game did have some flaws, it was a pretty popular contest, and simple enough that anybody could play it.

The second game that will be closing its doors in 2018, though, was a little bit of a shock–although something I predicted as soon as Verizon’s buyout of Yahoo! was announced. Yes, the super popular Yahoo! Fantasy Auto Racing contest will not be offered in 2018 either, to the dismay of a large portion of the Fantasy NASCAR nation.

Fantasy NASCAR in 2018

As far as season-long Fantasy NASCAR contests, the only major player left (presumably) is NASCAR.com’s Fantasy Live. Of course, there are many sites that offer season-long games–including four here at Fantasy Racing Online–but those player pools are much smaller than the crowd that NASCAR.com gathers–which can either be a good or bad thing.

The main question on everyone’s minds, though, is whether or not there will be anything similar to Yahoo! or FOX offered by anyone in 2018. This is where the good news comes.

Fantasy Racing Online is offering a free contest that is very similar to how FOX Fantasy Auto was played in 2018. Click here for more information.

And even more good news? It looks as though FantasyRacingCheatSheet will be putting together a contest just like Yahoo! Fantasy Auto Racing. You can head over there to get more updates on that. We are also providing a Private Cash League for those interested, just click here for more information.

Next year’s Daytona 500 will be here before we know it, and hopefully you’ll be able to find the perfect Fantasy NASCAR contest(s) to join to make the season that much more exciting.

As someone who has always been obsessed with numbers, Fantasy NASCAR has been the perfect fit with me. I pride myself on the quality of my analysis for each race, and am glad that I have been able to help others along the way. I've been a serious Fantasy NASCAR player for over 10 years now, and I'm just getting started.

  1. Yah, you do a great job with your leagues, so I hope they stay around. I also enjoy playing against you in the Pick 6 contest you told us about. I play in about 5 different leagues, I really enjoy yours. Thanks Mike Banitt

  2. I share your love of numbers as I was a Master Scheduler in aerospace until I retired. I used to play a lot of fantasy sports with much success, but I have quit all but racing as that seems the only sport that isn’t comprised of traitors, cheaters, thugs, felons, druggies, wife & kid beaters, steroid freaks and 330 lb. fat asses (athletes?).

  3. I really liked the yahoo league everything about it. Hoping yahoo changes it’s mind. But if not is there anything else out there like it.

  4. I think a fitting name would be Road Warrior Racing. The remnants of post apocolyptic fantasy nacar landscape.
